Here at Gärtnerei Melle, we think sustainably and always consider the future. We produce high-quality plants for our customers and take our social and environmental responsibility very seriously. Our plant production has been MPSA+ certified for five years now. Our work processes have been accredited with GLOBALG.A.P. GRASP since 2022.
Each plastic pot is made of 100% recycled PCR material.

Healthy plants
- We use only disease-resistant and robust young plants
- Our heather plants come from the own Gardengirls breeding of the company Neoplant. Great emphasis is placed on the best genetics and plant health
- Through daily and conscientious care of our gardeners, our plants grow into high quality finished goods

Peat reduced substrate
- We use a 30% peat reduced substrate based on wood fiber for all our production
- We are also pioneers in the production of 100% peat-free callunas. We have already cultivated these in 2014

Targeted use of fertilizers and pesticides
- Through fertilizers and plant strengtheners on a microbial or mineral basis, we try to best protect our plants from diseases
- If a disease cannot be avoided, we can use plant protection products selectively thanks to targeted control
- All fertilizers and pesticides used are Global Gap and MPS accredited and do not contain neonicotinoids

Reduction of water consumption
- We water our plants selectively through watering carts. A spout allows water and fertilizer applications to be applied precisely over the individual pots. This saves water and reduces nutrient loss
- We also use rainwater, which is collected in 3 ponds

Conscious use of energy
- Our photovoltaic system has been in operation since 2022 and we also purchase 100% green electricity
- We were able to reduce our gas consumption by 50% through a longer cultivation period of greenhouse production

Sustainable packaging
- All culture pots are 100% recycled end-use plastic waste (100% PCR material).
- All water risers are made of 100% recycled industrial waste (100% PIR material)
- We have experience in the cultivation of plastic-free culture pots
- As a recyclable deposit system, we use Palettino trays to package our plants
- In the summer flower sale we use disposable paper pallets

- As a family business in the 3rd generation, we value respectful interaction with each other
- Our employees are the heart of our nursery and we make sure they are treated fairly and valued
- We have been Global Grasp certified since 2022. Our practiced social standards were accredited and the topic of occupational health and safety was put in the foreground
